Designed by Jean Nouvel with custom interiors by Thierry Despont, 53 West 53 is carved by the alchemy of light and shadow. The building, a true reflection of its environment, is based on an unconventional diagrid structure that eliminates the need for interior columns and allows for grand, airy living spaces filled with natural light.

Interiors crafted by Thierry Despont
Thierry Despont (1948–2023) was known for his iconic work on the Ritz Paris and Claridge’s Hotel in London and widely regarded as the designer of choice by the most discerning clients in the world.
Able to blend his European sophistication with a New York sensibility, Despont earned a reputation for polished, exactingly detailed interiors that convey a feeling of contemporary elegance.
